When the Stoufferville post office opened its doors in 1832, the town name was then shorted to Stouffville. In the year 1877, Stouffville was incorporated as a village and on January 1, 1971, Stouffville merged with Whitchurch Township. Stouffville was then considered a community within the larger city of Whitchurch.
